Lately we have been getting more questions about our serological test. We would like to explain a little more about the test in this article. If you have any questions about this test or any of our other tests, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What does the test do?

The serological test shows whether the body has built up antibodies against the corona virus. The test has the highest sensitivity 3 to 4 weeks after the first symptoms. This means that the serological test is most reliable a few weeks after the patient has become infected with the coronavirus. It is therefore advisable to wait several weeks after infection with the virus before administering the serological blood test. You can order this test for at home or schedule it in our clinic.

If I have antibodies, how long will I be protected?

It is currently unknown how long antibodies remain in your body to protect you from a second infection. What we do know is that a second infection with the coronavirus is an exception, it does not happen often. If you have been vaccinated, you can also use our serological test to see whether the vaccination is effective for you. Antibodies should then be visible in your blood. Also wait a few weeks before you get tested.

Why is it not certain that you are immune?

There are uncertainties about how the body reacts to the corona virus after infection. The immune response is highly personal, which makes it difficult to determine the duration and protective effect. Therefore, infection with the coronavirus does not guarantee complete immunity afterwards. So do you want to test whether you have antibodies in your blood after receiving a vaccination or after symptoms? Then order our serological test for at home or make an appointment in our clinic.
