What is a corona rapid test?

A rapid test (antigen test) allows us to quickly test whether someone is carrying the COVID-19 virus.

The test measures whether certain virus proteins are present in the collected test material. For this we use a nasopharyngeal swab. For a reliable result it is important that the collection of the material and the reading of the test result are done correctly. Our healthcare professionals are happy to help you at our location in Eindhoven.

The result of the rapid test

The results will be sent to you via a secure email within two hours of taking the test. You do not have to wait for the results at our location in Eindhoven. You will not receive the results immediately because we always have the results checked by a doctor.

What if I have Corona?

If the test shows that you are currently carrying the virus, you will have to be quarantined according to the RIVM guidelines. Unfortunately you will not be able to travel to the country of destination and we cannot prepare a health statement for you.

Need a Corona test in Hilversum for traveling?

The antigen rapid test has not yet been validated for travelers. For this, a PCR test with a travel certificate is required. This is because the PCR test is very sensitive and also detects lower virus levels. The result of a PCR test takes a little longer.

We do not need a laboratory for a COVID-19 rapid test. We can perform this test at our clinic and the results will be available within two hours.

Important sources

The RIVM website provides a lot of information about COVID-19. You can also consult the website of the government of the country of destination. You can find current information about the situation per country on the websites of the government, the National Coordination Center for Travel Advice, IATA and those of your travel organization and / or airline. The ANWB also provides a lot of information.

National government travel advice

We always recommend that you read the travel advice provided by the Dutch government. Also, make sure you follow the information from your travel organization or airline. They will notify you of any specific requirements that may be set. We also advise you to take a good look at the travel information and the status of your travel destination.

What is a Corona quick test?

An antigen (rapid) test is a method in which material is tested for the presence of virus proteins. No laboratory is required to perform the test and the results are quickly available after our quality control.

Who is the rapid antigen test for?

The antigen rapid test is for anyone with complaints who wants to know whether he / she currently has the corona virus.

In case of no complaints and yet in doubt, because you have been in contact with a positive tested person, for example, we recommend a PCR test.

What is the difference with a PCR test?

The PCR test is the gold standard. The test is very sensitive (99.8% specificity and 99.9% sensitivity) and detects both high and low levels of the virus in your body. However, the PCR test can only be performed and analyzed in a laboratory.

No laboratory is required for the rapid test and the results will be delivered within 2 hours. Studies do show that the rapid test detects lower concentrations of the virus less well than the PCR test, which is why the RIVM has only validated antigen tests for people with complaints.

How is the test administered?

The rapid test is administered via a nasopharyngeal swab. The doctor or nurse will take these from you. It is important that this is taken in the correct manner in order to generate a reliable result.

Do I have to wait on location for the results?

No. For your and our safety, you can go home immediately after the collection. The results of the rapid test will be sent by e-mail within two hours. In the event of a positive result, you will also be contacted by telephone.
